The mission of Indiana Digital Preservation (InDiPres) is to collaboratively manage and sustain a low-cost, secure, and geographically distributed archive for the long term preservation of locally created digital resources in Indiana. The Indiana State Library is the lead institution for InDiPres, which is a collaborative member of the MetaArchive Cooperative Preservation Network. The Indiana State Library Foundation serves as the fiscal agent.

Digital preservation is the active management of digital content over time to ensure ongoing access.

Any Indiana institution creating digital assets whose activities and objectives are consistent with Indiana Digital Preservation’s mission and principles may join InDiPres..

Preservation Tools

The Library of Congress has developed new tools to transfer large quantities of digital content. During 2008, the Library used these tools to add approximately 80 terabytes to its digital collections.

Host Institutions

The Indiana State Library serves as the lead institution for InDiPres,a collaborative member of the MetaArchive Cooperative Preservation Network. Indiana State University Library hosts the LOCKSS server that is a node in the preservation network
